Congregation of the Oaks Church

On Going Projects for the Year 2007 -2008

Teddy Bears for children: These bears are given to the EMS, Police and Fire Departments of the area, to use with children in distress.

A small huggable bear (or any small fluffy snuggly toy animal) can bring a world of comfort to a hurt and confused child.

We will be having our annual Best Dressed Bear (or costume) Contest at the November PNO on November 13th.

Ribbons  will be given for first 3 places and Bears will go to the providers.

Books for Kids: Every year we also collect story books, activity books and puzzle books for Driscoll Children's Hospital.

The children enjoy these and it is something that the hospital relies on donations to provide.

We try to make these donations at least twice a year.

Women's Shelter: We collect  old cell phones for the Women's Shelter in Corpus Christi.

Adopt a Highway: Congregation of the Oaks, has adopted  FM 1540, from Hwy. 359 at Sandia  for two miles. The stretch of road is from Tx. Hwy. 359 to North Pole Drive.

Food Bank: We are trying to maintain a food bank for the community. Canned goods and non-perishables. When we learn of one of our families in need, we hope to always be able to take them at least a basket of food.

Children's Day Camp: Twice a year, Congregation of the Oaks Church sponsors Kid's Camp.

It is a day of games and crafts for the children of the community. All are welcome, no matter what faith.
